Hi,

I've just bought the IM index and set it up in C:\Users\Paraic\Documents\Internet marketing\IM-Index

When I run the DAO installer, it continually defaults to ..\Documents

I've tried to move the IM-Index folder to ...\Documents and to ...\Paraic but my system says I need permission (I'm supposedly the administrator so whose permission, I'm not sure) and won't let me

Also, am I missing someything - I see posts asking about written instructions vs video  but don't see where these files are - are there written instructions I can read or do I have to watch the videos?

Thanks,

Paraic

Hello Paraic, and welcome to the community of IM Index users!

Firstly, I would recommend putting the IM-Index folder directly under C:\, i.e.

C:\IM-Index

The reason for this is to keep the path names short as you start creating sub-folders and unzipping files that themselves contain deeply nested folders.

(Or if you have one, use an external drive so you can easily move your data to another computer if you need to).

However, the DAO Installers should allow you to browse to wherever your IM-Index folder is. It defaults to ...Documents\IM-Index  but you can browse to where you want.

As to the permissions issue - that's beyond my control I'm afraid. You aren't using Vista by any chance?....

Finally, no. You're not missing anything. I've not yet created any written documentation.

Post again if you're still having problems.

Kind regards

Alex

Thanks Alex

And yes, I'm using Vista  and I also have an external hard drive- would it be a good idea to uninstall and reinstall it to there?

Hi Paraic

You don't need to un-install: just move the IM-Index folder and all its contents onto your external drive.

That's the good thing about it: it's "just" a collection of folders, and provided the Mind Map is in the right relative location (which it will be when you move the folder), all the pointers from the Map into the folders stay the same.

But test whether Vista gives you any heartache with accessing the external drive in this way. I know when I use my daughters Vista machine, I ... well, I try not to, put it that way. But that may be because I don't have admin rights....

Regards
