1. Allow users to edit the Properties of the MindMap.  Why? When a user has multiple MindMaps open it would be easier to jump/find the one I want to work with if we can change the Title in the Properties field.  This info is displayed on the Workbook Tabs.

2. Add P-Website Links to Core Project Activities. Since Core Activities is within Quick Links this would enable quick access to websites and allow IM-MM to be used as more of a Dashboard.  Core Activities seems to be the map section that will be used most.

3.

I agree - that would be good to be able to do that.

Unfortunately, that's beyond my control: everything to do with the display of the Map is handled by the Mind Manager Viewer, which is not developed by me, but by Mindjet. And since they allow that to be distributed for free, they ensure it is ONLY a viewer, so nothing about the maps it displays can be changed.

Alex,

I really think you should explore #1 more in depth. The tab for IM Index MM shows your title.

There should be a way to have the program use the Project Name for the Tab.  You did it for the IM MindMap.

Craig

When the Map is displayed in he Viewer, the tab shows what appears in the central box of the map. If you click on File->Properties, you can also see this appearing as the Title of the document - but you can't change it: it's read only.

If you examine the map file under Windows Explorer, you can right-click and view Properties. You get the Title of the document displayed again, but now you CAN change it.

However, if you then go back view the map through the Viewer, nothing has changed, and if you examine File->Properties, you find it has not changed from what it was before.

If you have a lot of IM Project Maps open at once, the way to tell which project each relates to is to look in the title bar of the Viewer window. There it displays the file name of the map - which is what you DO have control over.

Yes, I know, but that is weak  Undecided.  When you have a bunch of maps open, you would have to jump thru them all to find the one you want or open the Window tab on the menu to find it. The idea of names on the tabs is to make it EASY for the user.

It's not that big of a deal, it just would make the product more user-friendly.

Thanks.

p.s. I'm sure I'll have more stuff next week as focus on moving everything into the IM framework.

The good and the bad of relying on third-party software.

Without using the MM Viewer, there would BE no IM Index Mind Map ("the good").

Using the MM Viewer, some of the functionality is less than optimal, and I can't do anything about it ("the bad").

If the product really takes off (... let's be positive... "when the product really takes off..."), I'l be able to justify getting my own "Viewer" written. Actually, I have an outline for the look and feel (rather different from the MM Viewer, in fact), but please, don't anyone ask "when"! The impact on sales just wouldn't justify the very significant cost involved - at least for the time being.

But do keep the comments coming, Craig.

If possible, a french version will be really appreciated.

I can translate it if you have a list of all content to be translated. No problem.  I'm author and eMarketer and I've translated many softwares. French market is a huge market. Dont forget all these new potential customers !  Wink

I have Mindjet MindManager, but at my day job, I cannot use it. However, there is an alternative that will also open MindManager maps called XMind (http://www.xmind.net). The basic version is free and it is open source.
