How does one get previously downloaded information into the organizer?

You simply move them into the relevant folder: of course, you won't have any "download report" record created, as you when you use the DAO Installers - but at least all your content gets to be properly organized.
Read through the guides that come with the product - and watch the video in the members area: they will explain everything in details.
BTW - if you have the PRO Edition, there are tools which make that job much easier, and which DO create "download reports" for you - just as if you had used DAO Installers.

Alex, being new to IMI, having just joined in Dec2010, I was wondering how far back to go in the forum as your recent releases are very different to the earlier ones so I may be wasting my time. I have just loaded pro and the resource centre stuff. What do I do next I ask myself. One thing I am a bit worried about is , it all seems very teckie and am I skilled enough for the knowledge the product seems to demand?
The products I have downloaded, what are they? At the moment they are just DAO numbers 1-8!
Anyway will open something up tomorrow

There's probably not much to be gained by reading through past forum posts.
If you have a question, just ask it.
The IMI Organizer User Guide pdf is the best starting point.
As regards needing to be "techie" in general.... Despite what some vendors would like you to believe (so that you buy their products), you either need to have the funds to hire someone technical OR you need to become technically competent in order to get anywhere in this business.

DAO Installers don't download anything: all the files which they install are embedded inside the DAO file itself. What the DAO Installer needs to know is where your IM-Index folder is so it can find the relevant folders within that.
So if you installed the IMI Organizer in C:\IM-Index , that is what you put in the box which the DAO Installer presents.
