Hi Alex,

I have been an extremely happy user of IM Index since the introduction of V2 - I wish I had known about it when you first introduced V1.  Consequently I have been eagerly awaiting the release of V3.

I have downloaded the Upgrade set-up exe file and started running it.  I am (unfortunately) running Windows Vista - why is it that when they finally start to get their operating system running well (XP), they stuff up everything with their "new and improved" Operating System?

I got as far as selecting the folder where V2.2.1 was situated, and clicked "Install"  This is where it stopped working...

I waited...  I went and made myself a cup of tea - really good Australian owned and grown tea with almost no caffeine or tannin...
...and nothing appeared to be happening

I clicked "Install" again - nothing different...

I went and played fetch with the doge for 15 minutes - still nothing happening.

I tried clicking "Install" again, and this time something happened - the window went pale ( a very familiar occurrence since I had Vista) and the title bar had the words "(not responding)" added...

Ctrl/Alt/Delete - Task manager - delete task.

Did this three times, with rebooting the PC between each attempt.

Then I deleted the .exe file and downloaded it again - just in case the file had become corrupted during download.

I did it all again... three more times...

Any suggestions?

V 2 is still working perfectly well, but I have been looking forward to V3 for the last 8-10 months since you first mentioned it to me in private email communication, and the anticipation is driving me crazy now that I know that others are happily using it and I can't...

Regards,
Trevor

Trevor

I have had one other similar report. In that case, there was a "Not Responding" message the top of the installer.

However, the user reported that, in the end, the installation was succeessful.

Please check the following in your IM-Index folder. That...

1. There is now a Content Management folder

2. There there is NOT a Download Records folder (at the top level)

3. There there is System folder at the top level

4. There are the following files (and maybe others):
#READ ME FIRST.txt
Flowchart For Organizing Content.mmap
Flowchart For Organizing Content.pdf
IMI Organizer User Guide.pdf
IM-Index-Organizer-PRO.mmap

Please let me know one way or another in this forum, but if there is still an issue, please raise a support ticket

Hi Alex,

I have tried waiting over an hour (while eating my dinner this evening) and the "not responding" message didn't go away.

I guess that the files and folders you emntion are in the upgraded version, as they are not there as you describe in V2.2.1

It just does not seem to want to work for me.

Please help.

Regards,
Trevor

Trevor

He reported that he found the upgrade had worked, even though the "Not Responding" message did NOT disappear.

But it seems you are saying that that hasn't worked for you. You checked for those files and found them not there, right?

That's right Alex,

None of the files have changed.

Flowchart For Organizing Content.mmap
Flowchart For Organizing Content.pdf
IMI Organizer User Guide.pdf
IM-Index-Organizer-PRO.mmap

NONE of those, just:
IM_Index.mmp
IM-Index Change Log.pdf

I also have the Laser-Focus Shield folder (is there any upgrade in that?)

The Change Log is the one explaining the upgrade to V2.2.1 from previous versions

I have thought of downloading the full version 3 and simply transporting folders, but it seems that there might have been significant changes in folder structure (as there were from V1 - V2), and some of my info will not then be accessible through the Index - I doubt that this is a good option.

I have got up to a rainy Sunday Morning here in Sydney.  The computer has been off all night having a rest.  I will try to run the upgrade exe again now, and let you know if there is any change.

Trevor

Trevor

No-don't install the non-upgrade version.

I'll have to investigate.

Let's continue this via the help desk. Please initiate it by raising a ticket.

I'll post here when we have a resolution.

OK - Trevor

I've found the problem and fixed it.

Please re-download the upgrade installer

IMI_OrganizerPROV3.0_VersionUpgrade_Setup.exe

from the PRO members area and try it again.

Hi Alex,

You fixed it!

It is now up and running in the new version.  All the files and folders that you said should be in the Top level folder are there and I have printed out the user guide, flow chart and change log to study this afternoon.

You have produced an amazing product here, which I use every day - numerous times...  And as soon as I contacted you with a difficulty, you sorted it out quickly and completely.

You are a pleasure to deal with, and I will keep coming back as well as highly recommending your fantastic product.
