Hello,

I had several Explorer windows and many tabs open that I was at various stages of working on.  I installed IMV2.  I double-clicked on the E icon in IMI/IM-Index.com and ALL MY OPEN EXPLORER WINDOWS AND THE WORK IN PROGRESS VANISHED ... It looks like IM2's open action may close open Explorer windows prior to opening one for IM-Index.com in some circumstances, watch out ...

I'd be interested to hear of any other incidents like this.

Opening browsers from within the IM Index Mind Map is a standard  function of Mindjet's Viewer. This is not something that has changed from V1 to V2.

Thanks

Hello again,

Obviously I should have closed everything down when I touched an installer.  The problem may lie there, i.e. being set up in the installation process.  However the trigger was certainly the double click on the link I mentioned.  I use MindManger regularly, and have used it for over a decade (yes, from the time it came on floppies, and was distributed from Starnberg, Bavaria.) I use the MM Personal Organizer with a number of Explorer links embedded, but have not met this problem before. I am using MM V 6.2.399 with Service Pack 2 running under XP.

More questions....

Did you install the viewer?

Did you get that problem from running the Map in the Viewer or in the full Mind Manager software?

Was it a once-off or can you replicate it?

(Not that I have any ideas on what to do - so I just gather more info!)

Thanks

Hello Alex,

I have not yet tried to uninstall and reinstall V2 with Explorer running which is what I would have to do to recreate it.  If I uninstall, will the process reinstall V1 from the backup files?.

I did not install and run under the viewer because I run the full MM which autostarts on system startup.

(I did have a second problem that appeared after normal system closedown and restart following V2 install.  For some reason MM could not find the file it loads and runs on startup, my Personal Organizer.   It recovered it, I saved it under a different name, and the original was later visible in the MMAP list under its original name.  This has NEVER happened before, and may have NOTHING to do with installing V2, but it is an observation.)

Gren.

So - this happened once following the installation, and hasn't happened since. Is that right?

I'm inclined to leave it unless it happens again.
